Dr. Joan Gluckauf Haahr, professor emerita of English at Yeshiva University, talks about her new book, “Prisoners of Memory: A Jewish Family From Nazi Germany,” which is about her relatives’ ordeal in Germany under Nazi rule.

Joan Gluckauf Haahr’s family was everything that German Jews aspired to be — polished, educated, and steeped in national culture and identity. But little by little family members watched as their dreams, their friends, and ultimately their lives were destroyed after Hitler’s rise to power.

The online talk, sponsored by the Yeshiva University Libraries and set for Wednesday, February 16, at 7 p.m., will be moderated by Dr. William Stenhouse of YU’s Robert M. Beren Professor of History, and co-sponsored by YU’s Jay and Jeanie Schottenstein Honors Program.
