RVCC Holocaust Institute soon to start its annual online summer book series
The Raritan Valley Community College Institute of Holocaust and Genocide Studies offers its sixth annual free online summer book series. It will be on June 12, July 17, and August 21, all at 11 a.m. The segments will be held on Zoom webinars, and registration is required.
On June 12, the book is “The Sisters of Book Row” by Shelley Noble; July 17, “The Keeper of Lost Children” by Sadeqa Johnson, and August 21, “The Last Woman of Warsaw” by Judy Batalion.
“The Sisters of Book Row,” set in 1915 Manhattan, focuses on three sisters who run a rare bookshop on Book Row as they fight against censorship from the American anti-vice activist Anthony Comstock. The story, inspired by real historical events and such figures as Margaret Sanger, follows Olivia, Daphne, and Celia Applebaum, who protect literature and secretly distribute women’s health information.
