Congregation B’nai Israel of Emerson and Peace Islands Institute, a Muslim organization that seeks to promote respect and mutual understanding among all faiths and cultures, recently held a conversation about how we identify ourselves personally, socially, and religiously. Ellen Michelson and Ezra Tozan presented the issues and shared insights. Psychotherapist Dr. Michael Stern of CBI, PII’s Edward Erdal Yilmaz, who is a licensed professional counselor, and Rabbi Debra Orenstein led the discussion. Sixth and seventh graders from the synagogue’s Hebrew school and members of the public were there as well.

The program was part of an ongoing series of interfaith programs the CBI and PII have hosted over recent years.
