Henry Glenn, a Holocaust survivor, longtime Englewood resident, and member of Congregation Ahavath Torah there, is known for his devotion to his family, his people, and his country.

He’s also a man of honor, successful businessman, revered neighbor, and esteemed friend to all. Also, since the inception of the N.Y. Mets in 1962, he is known as the most avid fan the Mets have ever had.

Henry Glenn turned 100 on Mother’s Day. To honor his milestone birthday, he donated a Torah to be housed at Englewood’s Congregation Ahavath Torah, at a celebration there on May 16.

The Torah is in memory of his wife, Ester Glenn, also a Holocaust survivor. It was rescued from Poland, finding its way to Duluth, Minn., after the war, then refurbished locally. The sofer was present at the dedication. Englewood Mayor Michael Wildes presented him with a key to the city of Englewood; other politicians were also there. Among his gifts was a Mets jersey with the number 100 on it.
