Jewish teen choir gears up for new season
New Jersey rehearsals begin in the fall for HaZamir: The International Jewish Teen Choir. The season culminates in a gala performance in April, at David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center in Manhattan, with hundreds of HaZamir singers gathering to sing together. Teens entering grades 9 through 12 are encouraged to join their local HaZamir chapter. Area chapters include Bergen County, Central NJ (Middlesex County), and MetroWest NJ (Morris, Essex, and Union counties). There are chapters in 26 American locations and also seven cities in Israel.
The HaZamir choir was created by Maestro Matthew Lazar, Zamir Choral Foundation’s founder/director, to provide an opportunity for accomplished young singers to perform great Jewish music at the highest standard of excellence and sing on the world’s biggest stages.
