It’s a local ‘American Summer’
Film producer, writer, director, and communication consultant Michael W. Gray of HoHoKus created, wrote, produced, and directed a new film, “American Summer.” It will be released on September 4.
Mr. Gray, who was born and grew up in Westwood, is the son of the late Bob and Miriam Gray. His mother, a beloved local Hebrew school teacher and principal, was going to play the grandmother in the film. But she died before the movie was filmed, so Mr. Gray’s sister-in-law, Robin Riback, provided the voice for the off-camera role. His sister, Ann, helped with the post production.
“American Summer” stars Steve Guttenberg, Christie Brinkley, Dan Lauria, Cullen Moss, Mia Talerico, Logan Gray, Lee Mazzilli, and a young ensemble cast. It’s about growing up, making the travel baseball team, meeting someone special, and figuring out how to deal with the adults in your life; it’s also about living in a suburban town in summertime.
