Teaneck organizations mourn victims of mosque massacres

The Jewish Community Council of Greater Teaneck, Teaneck Women Together, and Muslim Women in Action sponsored a candlelight vigil on the Teaneck Township Green on Tuesday, March 19, to show solidarity with the Muslim community in light of the massacres in the Al-Noor Mosque and the Linwood Islamic Center.

Speakers included Teaneck Mayor Mohamed Hameedudin, Steve Fox, representing the Jewish Community Council of Greater Teaneck and the Northern NJ Holocaust Memorial Committee, Rabbi Daniel Fridman of the Jewish Center of Teaneck, Imam Moutaz Charaf of the El-Zara Mosque in Midland Park, and Yasmeen Al-Shaheeb, representing Muslim Women in Action, and Teaneck Women Together, who discussed the importance of fighting hate wherever it occurs and denounced racism and anti-Semitism. The names of those killed in the massacres were read by members of the Muslim Women in Action including Sumaira Yousufi, Farah Hassan, Suada Catovic, and Zubaida Habibuddin, and Teaneck Women Together, represented by Shana Dworken, Judi Samuels Ramos, and Jennifer Montag.
