Rabbi to deliver lecture series

Rabbi Larry Rothwachs of Congregation Beth Aaron in Teaneck offers a lecture series, “Serving Our Creator with a Healthy Body, Mind, and Soul,” at the synagogue. All sessions will begin at 8:30 p.m. The series is sponsored by Linda and Rabbi Jay Goldmintz and Linda and Rabbi Mark Karasick in honor of their children and grandchildren and by Cathy and Dr. Steve Schuss in memory of their parents, Naftali Herz ben Yizchok, Miriam bat Avraham, and Shalom Tzvi ben Aharon.
On December 1, Rabbi Rothwachs will address “Five Unhealthy Habits of Orthodox Jews;” followed on the December 8 with “To Vaccinate or Not to Vaccinate?: A Halachic Perspective” “Matters of the Mind: What Everyone Needs to Know about Mental Illness” is on December 15, and “Torah Living for the OCD, Anxiety Disordered or Struggling Addict” is on December 29. The January 5 topic is “Eating Disorders in the Jewish Community: Prevention, Detection, and Treatment.” “Genetic Testing and Preventive Medical Intervention in Halacha and Hashkafa” is set for January 12. The series ends on February 2 with “Shemirat Shabbat vs. Shemirat ha-Nefesh: Health Management and Medical Treatment on Shabbat.”
