More ‘bears’ find homes with needy children in Israel

Recently, Bears from Bergenfield, headed by Rabbi Claire Ginsburg Goldstein of Bergenfield, right, went on a teddy bear mission, delivering stuffed toys to children in five communities. One stop, in Arnona, Jerusalem, shown here, included a visit with Rebbetzin Sharona Halickman, center, who is married to “sports rabbi” Josh Halickman, who works for JTS in Jerusalem, and with volunteer Naama Shear. Rebbetzin Halickman works with survivors of the recent fire near Modiin, helping victims get supplies and finding temporary places for them to stay. Many children lost all their belongings, and the bears will fill some of that void. The bears Rabbi Ginsburg Goldstein brought were donated by nursery school students at Temple Beth Ahm in Springfield.

Bear donations are always accepted. For more information, email Rabbi Ginsburg Goldstein at lgcg98@aol.com. The organization is in its 17th year; it’s collected and redistributed 189,000 bears.
