Livingston’s Goldklang family dedicates an ambulance to Israel

The Goldklang family, long-time members of Temple Beth Shalom of Livingston, donated an ambulance to the American Friends of Magen David Adom for Israel during a ceremony at the synagogue on January 17. MDA provides ambulance and blood services to the State of Israel. The Goldklangs’ ambulance, the second MDA ambulance the family has sponsored, is in memory of the victims of October 7.
Friends and family joined brothers Dr. Marvin Goldklang of Livingston, an owner of several minor league baseball teams, and Dr. Gerald Goldklang of Atlanta, formerly of Livingston, at the dedication ceremony. MDA paramedic Aryeh Myers traveled from Israel to give an update and report from the field. Rabbi Simeon Cohen and Cantor Perry Fine of TBS offered a prayer for the Israeli hostages still in Gaza. Children from the synagogue’s preschool joined the group to take pictures with the ambulance, which was parked outside.
The Goldklangs said the whole family had participated in the ambulance donation; Marvin’s young grandson donated $70 from his savings. After the ceremony, the ambulance was transported to Israel to begin saving lives.
“It’s heartening to see how families like the Goldklangs carry on the legacy of supporting Israel,” Sam Koenig, the director of AFMDA’s northeast region, said. “The commitment to Magen David Adom has been passed down from generation to generation, and this example illustrates how all three generations have contributed to securing this ambulance for Israel.”
