Dr. Miryam Wahrman will talk about “Holy Hands/Safe Hands” on Saturday, April 1, at 5:45 p.m., at Congregation Rinat Yisrael.

Dr. Wahrman is a professor of biology at William Paterson University and an award-winning science journalist; for the last 20 years she has been the Jewish Standard’s science correspondent. Her talk at Rinat will be based on her book, “The Hand Book: Surviving in a Germ-Filled World,” which looks into the Jewish roots of hand washing as well as how to avoid dangerous germs and reduce your risk of infection. Dr. Wahrman’s book includes research on how microbes transfer from object to object and person to person; that understanding can help us understand how to reduce the risk of infectious disease.

The shul is at 389 West Englewood Ave. For information, call (201) 837-2795.
