Jewish Home Family launches the Almar School
The Jewish Home Family has opened the Almar School, which will train certified nursing assistants. The program is designed to fuel career growth, offer unparalleled staff development, and address the growing demand for Certified Nursing Assistants in the state.
“What sets us apart is that many of our inaugural class students are already part of the Jewish Home Family, Lauren Baruch, the Jewish Home Family’s vice president of human resources, said. “They know our mission, they understand our values, and they are passionate about aligning their personal journey with ours.”
The Almar School offers an earn-as-you-learn model that provides students with a job and benefits while attending classes. Students work 20 hours each week and attend classes for another 20 hours; they are paid for 40 hours. The six-week course will allow them to pass a clinical skills test. Once they pass, they begin working as nursing assistants, preparing for the final state-written exam, which is administered off-site in New Jersey. After passing the exam, they become fully certified nursing assistants.
The instructors are experienced nurses from both Jewish Home campuses who have gone through an intensive certification process. Each instructor has had specialized CNA instructor training and has crafted their own curriculum for the school.
Classes at the Almar School will begin in April, and two to three sessions will be offered annually. With state regulations limiting each session to just 10 students, the program is tailored to provide individualized attention and a focused learning environment.
