Beginning September 1, the JCC of Northern New Jersey’s Active Seniors program will have a new home at Temple Avodat Shalom in River Edge, on the border of Paramus, across from Van Saun Park.

This new building is A.D.A.-compliant, with no stairs or barriers to entry; it has convenient drive-up-style parking, and more program rooms offer quiet space when it’s needed. The same friendly staff will be on hand to support the program.

The Active Seniors program meets for a variety of activities on Tuesdays and Thursdays; it offers Yoga with Tanya on Tuesdays and Dance and Fitness with Julia on Thursdays. There’s also a lecture, game, or activity, always with some Jewish content of context, followed by a catered hot kosher lunch. More than 2,000 meals are served to the JCC’s Active Seniors each year. There is a suggested donation of $5 per person per day.

The Active Seniors calendar reflects the mission of the JCC of Northern NJ: to strengthen the local Jewish community by creating relevant, accessible, and meaningful opportunities for individuals and families, so they can form deep relationships and stay connected to their Jewish roots.

The program is supported by Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey and the Bergen County Division of Senior Services. For more information, go to jccnnj.org/active-seniors or call Jennifer Sauer at (201) 666-6610, ext. 2.
