Inaugural motorcycle ride of the season

The Chai Riders takes its first motorcycle ride of the season on Sunday, May 15. Registration, accompanied by a bagels-and-lox breakfast, is from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in the parking lot of Temple Beth Sholom of Fair Lawn. The day includes a poker-run through Bergen County with five stops. There’ll be a barbeque lunch after the ride at the synagogue, a 50/50 raffle, cigars, and prizes. The cost is a donation of $25 per bike and $15 per passenger.

The Chai Riders, a Jewish motorcycle group that began about 20 years ago, donates all the profits from its rides to charity. Over the years, it donated to Camp Simcha and Camp HASC, and members rode their bikes to Whitewell, TN, for the Paper Clip Project. Annually, they distribute Passover food in Lower Manhattan, and it is the only motorcycle group the rides up Fifth Avenue in NYC’s Celebrate Israel parade.
