After a two-year hiatus, the Mickey Marcus memorial will be back in person at West Point. It’s sponsored by the American Veterans of Israel Legacy Corporation.
The program is set for Sunday, May 1, at 10 a.m., in the Jewish chapel, 750 Merritt Road, West Point, N.Y. It will include a focus on Colonel David Daniel “Mickey” Marcus, a U.S. Army colonel who became Israel’s first general. He is an American hero who fought in the 1948 Israeli war for independence. Colonel Marcus, a West Point graduate, is buried in the U.S. Military Academy in West Point.
Guests will need a government-issued photo ID for identification, as well as proof of covid vaccination, with the second dose at least two weeks before May 1. A mask will be required indoors. The program’s organizer recommend that guests come early to get parking near the chapel. For more information, go to israelvets.com.
