Zahal Shalom prepares for 27th delegation
Zahal Shalom of Bergen County prepares to host a delegation of wounded Israel Defense Force veterans, who will arrive on June 2. The annual celebratory gala to welcome them is set for Thursday, June 6, at 6:30 p.m., at Temple Beth Rishon in Wyckoff. The delegation will be here for a two weeks.
Zahal Shalom, a non-profit organization in Northern New Jersey, works to help alleviate the injuries that Israeli veterans suffer as a result of their IDF service. Many soldiers incur a multitude of physical and emotional injuries that can affect them for a lifetime. The organization’s programming is designed to enable veterans to enjoy stress-free experiences in America and bond with American families, which benefits them in their long-term recovery.
Volunteers open their hearts and homes to forge lifelong relationships that support the veterans hopes. Hosts benefit from sharing the experience with them, and are proud to express their gratitude for the veterans’ service to Israel. Zahal Shalom’s program of cultural, educational, and social events enriches the lives of the veterans, promotes new senses of opportunity, and fosters bonds of love and support; hundreds of community members also participate in many of the events, and are affected by them. Zahal Shalom has hosted hundreds of soldiers so far, and many of them have been changed by their experiences with the organization. For more information, go to zahalshalom.org/gala.
