Virtual lecture focuses on brain stimulation for Parkinson’s

The Jewish Home Family Parkinson’s Center welcomes Dr. Elana Clar, who will give an online talk about “Advances in Deep Brain Stimulation For Parkinson’s” for the center’s monthly lecture series and support group on Thursday, May 12 at 4 p.m.

Dr. Elana Clar is one of the country’s most highly trained neurologists for the treatment of movement disorders. After completing her residency at Georgetown University, she did a two-year movement disorders fellowship at Mount Sinai Beth Israel Medical Center, where she obtained subspecialty training in deep brain stimulation. She treats all types of movement disorders, including Parkinson’s disease, atypical parkinsonism, and essential tremor. Dr. Clar views her relationship with patients as a partnership, and she is dedicated to serving as an advocate for them. From working with insurance companies to ensure her patients’ medications are covered, to researching and monitoring the newest treatment options available, she ensures each patient receives the best care possible.

Dr. Clar’s virtual talk covers the surgery and considerations involved in using the fast advancing technology. She also will take questions.
