The joy of Torah
One of my very favorite Jewish festivals is Simchat Torah, devoted to rejoicing over the Torah. I love the ritual that features the series of processions with the Torah scrolls. We are reminded that it is the completion of the annual cycle of the reading of the Torah and the beginning of a new cycle. What makes it more enjoyable is that it is a joyous occasion for children who are privileged to be called upon for the reading of the Torah. How interesting is it that the Torah is celebrated as a circle that never ends.
More important to me is that the Torah applies to all the teachings in Judaism, its laws, doctrines, ethics, philosophy, customs and ceremonies. I hold the Torah in great reverence.
