Tenafly group visits the rebbe’s grave
Last week, Lubavitch on the Palisades took a group of people to Queens to visit the ohel — the gravesite —of the Lubavitcher rebbe, to mark his upcoming 28th yahrzeit. Participants spent time learning together, wrote letters of petition, and prayed together at his gravesite.
Afterward the visit, they had dinner that featured inspirational speakers and then an impromptu farbrengen, where they told personal stories and joined in song.
Praying at the gravesite of a righteous person, particularly around the time of his or her yahrzeit, is a Jewish tradition.
