Shabbat ‘Prayers on the Palisades’
Kol Dorot: A Reform Jewish Community, the new congregation formed with the merger of Temple Beth El of Northern Valley in Closter and Temple Beth Or in Washington Township, plans two outdoor family-friendly Shabbat services. The first will be held on Friday, July 19, at 6:30 p.m., at the State Line Lookout off the Palisades Parkway. Kol Dorot’s clergy, Rabbis David Widzer and Noah Fabricant and Cantor Sarah Silverberg, will lead the informal service, which will include both prayers and songs.
State Line Lookout is at the highest point on the Palisades Cliffs, and it has a large parking lot. Enter off the Palisades Interstate Parkway northbound, two miles north of Exit 2. Bring lawn chairs and bug spray. If it rains, the service will be held at Kol Dorot, 56 Ridgewood Road, Washington Township. A second service will be on Friday, August 23.
