Yad Leah is accepting applications for its inaugural Teen Leadership Program for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year. The program will offer qualified high school students a unique, hands-on opportunity to develop organizational management and leadership skills through the lens of Yad Leah. Though many teens have collected and packed clothing for Yad Leah, few have had the opportunity to understand the operational structure it takes to send and distribute 360,000 items of clothing to families in Israel annually. The program will give teens an up-close opportunity to understand the inner workings of a nonprofit and actually create their own programs of impact. The New Jersey-based training sessions will be accompanied by an opportunity to put newly learned skills into practice. Areas of focus include marketing, program development, community engagement, and public speaking.
“This has been in the planning stages for so long and is part of a dream we have to give passionate chessed-minded teens, real-life, specific skills to be changemakers and leaders in the Jewish community,” Jessica Katz, Yad Leah’s director, said.
Limited spots are available and participants must be entering 10th, 11th, or 12th grade as of fall 2022. The program will consist of five to seven training sessions throughout the school year. The application deadline is June 10. To apply, email email@example.com, go to www.yadleah.org/teenleadership, or call (973) 955-0861.
