Rockland run/walk event aims to remember Holocaust victims
Registration is open for the Holocaust Museum & Center for Tolerance and Education’s second annual “Run/Walk for the Six” on Sunday, September 8, at 9:30 a.m., at the Rockland Community College track, 145 College Road in Suffern. Registration begins at 9.
Holocaust survivors, their descendants, and the museum’ friends and supporters all are invited to walk — if they are able to — six miles, one for each million, plus one more lap for everyone else who was murdered. A 5K race will take runners around the campus.
Proceeds will benefit social and educational programs for Holocaust survivors and school-aged children. The family-friendly event will end with a reception at the new museum, which still is under construction.
