Dr. Laurie Baumel hosted a NORPAC pro-Israel meeting for Congresswoman Elaine Luria (D-VA), with special guest Congressman Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ Dist. 5), at her home in Teaneck on April 16.

Congresswoman Luria is a Jewish U.S. Navy veteran who was a surface warfare officer and nuclear engineer for 20 years. She is a first-term representative in a district that encompasses Virginia Beach and Williamsburg, and parts of Norfolk and Hampton. She was one of several Jewish Democrats who took to the House floor to condemn anti-Semitism earlier this year in response to remarks about dual loyalty by Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn).

Dozens of members from the Teaneck and Bergenfield Jewish community came to hear Ms. Luria’s perspective on U.S.-Israel relations and combating anti-Semitism. Congressman Gottheimer came to promote Luria’s campaign.
