Last week, Norpac hosted two separate meetings in Bergen County; one for Congressman Eliot Engel (D-N.Y.), and the other for Senator Cory Gardner (R-Colo.).

Eliot Engel was appointed chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee for the 116th session of Congress. He co-authored a resolution on anti-Semitism that passed on the House floor last week in response to inflammatory comments made by freshman Representative Ilhan Omar (D-Minn). Engel was hosted in Teaneck by Rochelle and Phil Goldschmiedt.

Later that day, Senator Cory Gardner talked about U.S.-Israel relations at the Paramus home of Natalie and David Jonas. Gardner was the lead Republican sponsor of Senate Bill S.1, the Strengthening American Security in the Middle East Act, which supports security assistance for Israel and protects states that divest from BDS-supporting contractors. This bill passed the Senate on February 5.

Both officials are up for re-election in 2020.
