Meryl Frank

Meryl Frank, an author and champion of women’s leadership, human rights, and political activism, will tell her family’s Holocaust experience and describe what it means to be a “memorial candle.” The program, for the Bergen County section of the National Council of Jewish Women, will be on May 14, at 12:30 p.m., at Temple Emeth in Teaneck. Ms. Frank will discuss her book “Unearthed,” – A Lost Actress, a Forbidden Book, and a Search for Life in the Shadow of the Holocaust.”

In 2009, President Barack Obama appointed Ms. Frank, a former mayor of Highland Park, to represent the United States at the Fifth World Conference on Women. In 2010, he appointed her ambassador to the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. The Jerusalem Post named her one of the “Fifty Most Influential Jews in the World” in 2012.

The program is free for NCJW members; non-members pay $10. For information, go to www.ncjwbcs.org or call (201) 385-4847.
