Just plain Bill
In recent months, we have lost some of our community’s most open-hearted supporters, people such as Syril Rubin and Henry Taub, for whom giving was not merely about writing checks, but about being personally and actively involved in helping to promote a vibrant and culturally diverse life in northern New Jersey, both for the Jewish community and for the broader one of which we all are a part.
At the head of that list of selfless supporters there always stood Wilson R. Kaplen – Bill, as he preferred to be called. Giving was part of Kaplen’s DNA. It was not an obligation he had; for him, giving was living and living meant giving.
We extend our condolences to his wife Maggie and their family, and to all those people whose lives he touched. Yehi zichro baruch; may his memory be for a blessing as much as his life was.
