JFNNJ’s sock drive warms many feet

- As part of its monthly Community Affairs collection drive, the JCC of Paramus/Congregation Beth Tikvah donated 172 pairs of socks and $250 for the JFNNJ collection. Here, Rima Rosenstein fills her car with donations that had been left at the shul to deliver to JFNNJ.

The Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey’s sock drive, Toasty Toes Happy Soles, gathered about 13,000 pairs of new socks for infants, children, women, and men. They were donated to the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service project.
Groups and families collected new socks and dropped them off in a collection bin at JFNNJ headquarters in Paramus. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ Dist. 5) joined the staff at the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey for MLK Service Day on January 17. Together the team packed the socks to be distributed to seven community organizations. They are Oasis – A Haven for Women and Children, CUMAC, the Center for Food Action, Jewish Family and Children’s Services of Northern New Jersey, Franciscan Community Development Center of Fairview, Hoboken Homeless Shelter, and Angela Cares.
