“Joys of Jewish Music: Old World and New — Klezmer to 2nd Avenue” featuring Cantor Elizabeth Sternlieb, Lee Schwartz, and Metropolitan Klezmer, is set for Sunday, May 31, at 2:30 p.m., at the Jewish Home at Rockleigh. It is the Jewish Home Family’s 13th annual Myrna and Alan Cohen Centennial Spring Yiddish Concert.
Lee Schwartz, cantor emeritus of Sinai Free Synagogue in Mount Vernon, N.Y., has appeared in opera, operetta, oratorio, and cabaret throughout the United States and Europe. Elizabeth Sternlieb is a cantor and educator at Sinai Free Synagogue and recently recorded a CD of American jazz standards. Metropolitan Klezmer was hailed as “one of the finest American Klezmer bands” by Songlines Magazine.
