Heart-to-heart with cardiologists

Dr. Robert Altman, cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai Roosevelt hospitals, speaks at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades in Tenafly on Wednesday, November 19, at 1 p.m.
The presentation, “Heart to Heart,” includes information on cutting-edge research on the physiology of the heart, focusing on its function as an electrical organ.
Two other physicians will join Dr. Altman – Dr. Randy Cohen and Dr. Stephan Danik. Topics include the heart’s electrical system, the prevention of cardiovascular disease, and understanding and preventing sudden cardiac deaths and the role of cardiac defibrillators. The lecture also will explore what arrhythmia means, new treatment strategies, and how to make sense of the multitude of new medications that are advertised to consumers.

Dr. Danik is the director of the electrophysiology laboratory at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai Roosevelt, and Dr. Cohen is a preventive cardiologist at Mt. Sinai St. Luke’s and Mt. Sinai Roosevelt hospitals in Manhattan.
