Food donations needed in Wayne

WIN, the Wayne Interfaith Network, a coalition of volunteers from local houses of worship and service organizations in the greater Wayne area, provides ongoing provisions of nonperishable food and other basic necessities to Wayne residents who are in need.

Bags of non-perishable food and other basic necessities, including paper goods, toiletry items, and cleaning products, are requested during the winter months. Limit donations to regular sizes, not super sizes, and check that all expiration dates are in the future. Plastic or aluminum containers are preferred over glass. Items must be non-perishable, with no dents or cracks in cans or bottles and no torn or open boxes or containers.

Items can be brought to one of the two drop-off areas in town — the Wayne YMCA, 1 Pike Drive (donors can use the Jewish Family Service entrance) or the Preakness branch of the Wayne Public Library. Anyone who needs food can call Regina Parks at (973) 694-1800, ext. 3281. Groups and organizations that plan to collect food and other basic necessities can call (973) 595-1900, go to www.winfoodpantry.org, or email info@winfoodpantry.org.
