The JCC of Northern New Jersey, together with a consortium of Jewish synagogues and community organizations, is hosting a screening of “Brave Miss World” about Israeli beauty queen and former model Linor Abargil. The award-winning documentary focuses on Ms. Abargil, the 1998 Miss World, her sexual assault weeks before her title was won, and her decision to speak out against sexual abuse and violence.
After the film, Cecilia Peck, the film’s director, will lead a discussion facilitated by Jewish Family & Children’s Services of Northern NJ. The event, coinciding with the weekend of International Women’s Day, is on Sunday, March 10, at the Ridgewood Public Library. Doors open at 2:30 p.m.; the program will begin at 2:45.
Participating organizations and shuls include Temple Avodat Shalom, Beth Haverim Shir Shalom, Barnert Temple, Temple Emanuel of the Pascack Valley, the Glen Rock Jewish Center together with National Council of Jewish Women Bergen County Section, YWCA Bergen County’s HealingSPACE, and JCC of Northern New Jersey.
