Congregation Sons of Israel in Nyack will honor scouts and scout leaders during its in-person Scout Shabbat, set for Saturday, February 5, at 10 a.m.
The CSI service commemorates the founding of the Boy Scouts of America on February 8, 1910, and the Girl Scouts of America in 1912. The service is open to all scouts and adult scout leaders in all scouting programs including Cub Scouts, Brownies, and Girl and Boy Scouts. Scouts and leaders are encouraged to wear their full uniforms, and to display any Jewish religious awards or medals they’ve earned. Everyone must show proof of full vaccination to be allowed to enter the building.
Craig Fenster of Ridgewood is the chair of the Northern New Jersey Council Jewish Committee on Scouting.
If you wish to participate you must RSVP by January 31, so patches can be ordered and participation in the service can be assigned.
