Yeshiva University High Schools will host its annual dinner on Tuesday, May 12, at the Marina Del Rey in the Bronx. Faculty honorees include Ruth Fried, chair of the science department and director of the Science Institute at the Samuel H. Wang Yeshiva University High School for Girls (Central), and Rabbi Alfred Cohen, longtime maggid shiur at the Marsha Stern Talmudical Academy/Yeshiva University High School for Boys (MTA), who will retire at the end of this year. Rabbi Steven and Rachel Burg of Bergenfield are MTA’s guests of honor, and Avi and Aleeza Lauer are Central’s.
The dinner will also honor the 25th anniversary of the graduating class of 1990 at both MTA and Central.
Rabbi Steven and Rachel Burg have two children at MTA: Aryeh, a senior, and Elie, a freshman. They represent the third generation of the Burg family to attend MTA. Ms. Burg is a general studies teacher at the Rosenbaum Yeshiva of North Jersey and is involved in many Bergen County communal activities. Rabbi Burg is the Simon Wiesenthal Center and the Museum of Tolerance’s eastern director and serves on many nonprofit boards, including the United Federation of Teachers.
