A wall of travail - The Jewish Standard

The week ahead will see the beginning of the most tragic month on the Jewish calendar, the month of Av, a month in which “baseless hatred” is said to have brought on the calamities of 68-73 C.E. Of late, the beginning of each Jewish month has been marked by violence at the Western Wall, as Jewish women attempt to pray in the manner they choose at what is arguably Judaism’s holiest site. We pray for peace at the Wall this week and forever after. “Baseless hatred” has no place in Jewish life – not then, not now.
