Talking about Shavuot in Englewood
The Dor L’Dor group at Congregation Ahavath Torah in Englewood meets a for a special pre- Shavuot lunch and learn at the shul on Wednesday, May 17, at noon.
Rabbi Chaim Poupko, Congregation Ahavath Torah’s senior rabbi, will give a lecture. Rabbi Poupko is also a member of the national executive committee of the Rabbinical Council of America and a past president and treasurer of the RCBC.
Elana Kaplan, an educator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, will discuss “The Israelite Experience in Ancient Egypt.” Reservations are required; email dorldor@yahoo.com or call Eileen at (201) 921-0630.
Rabbi Mordy Kuessous, associate rabbi of the Benaroya Sephardic Center at Ahavath Torah, will speak about Shavuot. He teaches Gemara and halacha classes at Torah Academy of Bergen County and gives holiday-related shiurim to the school community. The Shirah Community Chorus, a multigenerational blend of professional and amateur singers from the metropolitan area, will sing. They perform a variety of Jewish music regularly at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades and have been featured in many concerts in the U.S. and Israel.
