Teaneck Day returns with the ultimate block party

Teaneck Day is back and bigger than ever. The free event, on Sunday, October 11, noon-6 p.m., will transform Cedar Lane (between Elm Avenue and American Legion Drive) into the ultimate block party, complete with more than 60 businesses and food vendors, live music, a massive Kids Zone, the Teaneck’s Got Talent youth showcase, and fireworks at dusk at Votee Park.

“Teaneck is a diverse, vibrant community, and Teaneck Day is an opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate our township,” said Mayor Mark Schwartz. “We are thrilled to bring this exciting event to Cedar Lane and create a memorable day for Teaneck families, businesses, and visitors.”

This year, young performers will take center stage at Teaneck’s Got Talent: A Community Showcase, sponsored by “Our Children,” the family section of the Jewish Standard. Town residents under 18 will perform comedy, dance, magic, music, or any talent for up to five minutes, with performances beginning at 1:30 p.m. Selected performers will be featured in “Our Children” after the event.

Produced by T.H. Experiences and AK Productions in partnership with the Township of Teaneck and Cedar Lane Management Group, the event is sponsored by the Jewish Standard, Holy Name, Alfred Sanzari Enterprises, VEG ER for Pets, and the Teaneck Recreation Department, and is proudly supported by the Teaneck Police Department, the Teaneck Fire Department, and the Teaneck Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

The Kids Zone, sponsored by the Teaneck Recreation Department, will feature a mechanical bull, a 24-foot rock wall, the Dixie Twister and Turbo Tubs rides, a themed bounce house, Wacky World, mega obstacle courses, and Velcro axe-throwing. Young athletes can test their skills at basketball pop-a-shot, a three-in-one sports challenge, a First Down football throw, and a soccer shoot-out; face painters, a balloonist, and a 360-degree photo booth will round out the fun.

Entertainment will include The Rewind, live bands, and DJs. Food trucks, local restaurants, sweet treats, and specialty eats will line the street alongside local artists and community organizations.

Fan favorites will also be on hand, including Cousins Maine Lobster, Culcha Caribbean, Cafe Demi, It’s All Love, Karmacaroons, and Kudo Society.

Teaneck Public Schools teams, student athletes, and coaches will be celebrated; attendees are encouraged to wear their school colors.
