Sweet Tastes of Torah, a community night of study and breakout sessions with local rabbis, will focus this year on the “Ethics-Driven Life.” The evening will concentrate on what the prophets said about repentance, wisdom, righteousness, civil disobedience, forgiveness, and protest. It’s at the Fair Lawn Jewish Center/CBI; doors open at 6:30 p.m. and Havdalah is at 7. Rabbi Barry L. Schwartz, author of “Path of the Prophets — the Ethics-Driven Life” and rabbi of Congregation Adas Emumo in Leonia, the keynote speaker, will discuss “Truth to Power: Prophetic Ethics in Troubled Times.” Israeli folk dancing and refreshments follow. Presented by the North Jersey Board of Rabbis with support from local synagogues, 10-10 Norma Ave. (201) 652-1687, sweettastesoftorah@gmail.com, or sweettastesoftorah.weebly.com.
