Protecting children from sexual abuse

The adult education program at Teaneck’s Congregation Rinat Yisrael, with congregations Keter Torah, Netivot Shalom, and Lubavitch of Bergen County, hosts a panel discussion, “Protecting Our Children from Sexual Abuse,” on Sunday, September 14, at 8 p.m. at Netivot Shalom. The program will focus on preventing and dealing with sexual abuse of minors in the Jewish community.

Among the speakers are Rabbi Yosef Blau of Yeshiva University; Dr. Shira Berkovits, a lawyer and psychologist; and David Cheifetz, a sexual abuse victims’ advocate. Rabbi Yosef Adler of Rinat Yisrael and rosh yeshiva of Torah Academy of Bergen County will introduce the program. Dr. Seymour Adler of Rinat’s adult education committee will moderate the discussion.
