The Rockland section of the National Council of Jewish Women installed its 47th president, Joan Birnbaum of Bardonia, as well as 21 other officers and directors, on June 7.

An installation brunch held at the Lewis JCC featured a history of NCJW, which Hannah G. Solomon founded in 1893, and a retrospective slide show of the section’s activities starting in the 1950s up to the present. In her acceptance remarks, Ms. Birnbaum said that she has been inspired by section members’ spirit of volunteering and never-ending energy for making a difference in the community.

The section, which has been in Rockland County since 1949, has a history of service to the community and advocating for people in need. To learn more, go to www.ncjw-rockland.org.
