Natan Sharansky to speak in Franklin Lakes
Natan Sharansky will speak at the Goldman Chabad Jewish Center in Franklin Lakes on Tuesday, May 12 at 7 p.m. Mr. Sharansky, one of the most influential voices for human rights and freedom in modern history, is a global symbol of courage and freedom.
A former Soviet refusenik, Mr. Sharansky was imprisoned in the Soviet gulag system for years and emerged as a global symbol of resilience and faith. After his release, he became a prominent leader in Israel, including as a member of the Knesset, continuing his lifelong advocacy for democracy and human dignity. He is also the author of “Fear No Evil” and “The Case for Democracy,” and a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
“Sharansky’s story is not just history — it is a living message of strength, identity, and moral clarity,” Rabbi Chanoch Kaplan of the Goldman Chabad Jewish Center said. “In a time when antisemitism is once again on the rise, his voice reminds us what it means to stand tall, speak truth, and live proudly as Jews.”
