The Jewish Family and Children’s Services of Northern New Jersey says volunteers are an essential part of the organization’s mission — to strengthen and enhance the well-being of people in need by providing professional and compassionate human services to effectively meet life’s many challenges. On April 23, JFCS celebrated its dedicated volunteers at the third annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon at CareOne at the Cupola in Paramus. Volunteers gathered for an afternoon of education, connection, and lunch, in recognition of the vital role they play in supporting the agency and the community it serves. The luncheon served as a small token of appreciation for the more than 250 volunteers whose love and care continue to improve the lives of so many.

Volunteers help ensure that JFCS remains a critical mental health and social safety net for individuals and families throughout Northern New Jersey. The luncheon provided an opportunity for the agency to express its heartfelt gratitude for the time, compassion, and commitment volunteers contribute each year.

Joel B. Strauss, CPA, J.D., attorney and partner at Kaplan Fox & Kilsheimer LLP, presented “Smart & Safe: Protecting Yourself from Identity Theft and Scams,” to his fellow JFCS volunteers. Mr. Strauss offered practical strategies to help protect themselves, their families, and their clients from the growing threat of fraud and identity theft.

JFCS CEO Evan Hochberg thanked the agency’s “dedicated and amazing volunteers” for generously sharing their time, wisdom, and heart to help others in need.

JFCS volunteers are integral to many of the agency’s core programs, including Kosher Meals on Wheels, Friendly Visitors, Telephone Reassurance, Cooking Companions, Café Europa, RAISE, the Corner Market Food Pantry, ClubEd After School, and many other events throughout the year. Together, volunteers contributed more than 5,800 hours of service last year, helping JFCS operate effectively while expanding its reach throughout the community.
