Jewish Family & Children’s Services Northern New Jersey honors Greenbaum, Tracy Zur
More than 300 people came to the annual Jewish Family and Children’s Services of Northern New Jersey’s celebration on Sunday, November 17, to honor Susan Greenbaum and Tracy Silna Zur. Both women have dedicated their careers to serving the community, and the love the community has for them was evident throughout the evening.
JFCS board members Rachel Scheff and Shira Feuerstein, the event chairs, welcomed the guests. Board President Sima Kern talked about the importance of all comprehensive services that JFCS provides to the community. Melissa Rosenberg, a volunteer who delivers Kosher Meals on Wheels and whose mother receives them, also spoke.
The presentations for the JFCS honorees highlighted the night’s program. Ms. Zur, a Bergen County commissioner, thanked everyone for their support and stressed the importance of working together to “be the light and love that drives out the darkness that plagues many in our community.” Susan Greenbaum, JFCS’s CEO, gave a moving speech about her tenure at JFCS, her pride in the agency — she calls it her “third child” — and her confidence in its ability to continue being the mental health and social safety net our community relies on. Though Ms. Greenbum is retiring in June, her legacy will remain. She always will be remembered as a driving force that uplifted JFCS to new heights of care and service.
Thanks to loyal donors and dedicated friends, JFCS can continue providing vital services to everyone who needs them through its Four Pillars of Service — Mental Health Services, Older Adult Services, Food Insecurity Services, and Basic Needs Assistance.
