In celebration of a new membership season, the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades in Tenafly will hold its annual open house for the Kaplen Adult Reach Center, the JCC program for people with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other aging concerns, on Sunday, September 20, from 1 to 4 p.m.

At the open house, part of the JCC’s community open house, staff will give guided facility tours, and members and guests will be able to enjoy the JCC’s gyms, outside pools, and water park, try sample classes, and make use of both the adult and youth fitness centers.

This year, the Senior Center at the JCC will hold a program from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Kaplen Adult Reach Center, where seniors with Alzheimer’s or other aging concerns can sample the program with their family members and/or caregivers. Participants can join for the full afternoon or for as long as they can stay.

“Caring for elderly loved ones with diminishing cognitive or physical abilities can become a sad and isolating experience and many facilities that look to offer support are isolated little havens in themselves,” Judi Nahary, the JCC’s senior services director, said. “That is what makes ARC so unique. Seniors in our program become active participants in the vibrant JCC community and remain in the center of life, where they can connect and feel connected. We are proud to provide a setting of this kind, and we encourage everyone in the community who is looking for a program for their aging loved ones to join us for this special day.”
