Jazz photography at bergenPAC
The Sandy Bennett Art Gallery in the Bergen Performing Arts Center displays photography from the estate of iconic jazz photographer Chuck Stewart, who used to live in Teaneck, through June 30. There will be a reception on Wednesday, June 6, at 7 p.m.
“It’s probably easier for you to ask me whom haven’t I photographed than to have me tell you whose photographs I have,” Stewart, who died last year at 89, once said. “But if there’s a historic moment in American music, social, or cultural history that you’re curious about, chances are I was there or have photographs of someone who was.”
His photographs illustrated more than 2,000 album covers and liner pages.
The gallery is on the mezzanine level of bergenPAC and is open to the public from Monday to Friday, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. For information, call (201) 227-1030 or go to www.bergenpac.org.
