Hundreds of players, parents, and fans gathered at Teaneck’s Milton Votee Park on April 15 for Teaneck Baseball Organization’s season opener. Dignitaries on the field included Congressman Josh Gottheimer (D-5th Dist.), Teaneck’s mayor, Mohammed Hameeduddin, deputy mayors Dr. Henry Pruitt and Elie Y. Katz, and council members Gervonn Romney Rice, Alan Sohn, and Mark Schwartz. They were there to celebrate both opening day and the park’s renovated Field 3, a project completed late last season.

Four-time all-star and three-time world champion pitcher Dwight Gooden threw out the ceremonial first pitch to Mr. Hameeduddin. Longtime TBO board member Jonathan “Chanan” Vogel, who worked with the town for the funding and oversaw the design and construction of the field, was the emcee. TBO president David S. Greenberg welcomed the guests.

In the opening 4th-5th grade division game, team J&J Pharmacy defeated the Halachic Organ Donor Society (HODS) team, 6–1. Although the league doesn not schedule games on Saturday, it’s membership is open to all residents.
