On Friday night, March 5, at 8 p.m., on Zoom, the Glen Rock Jewish Center offers its Refugee Shabbat. Merrill Zack, HIAS’s vice president for community engagement work, is the speaker. She and her team at the Hebrew Immigrant Aid society work to educate, organize, and mobilize the American Jewish community to act in support of refugees and asylum seekers. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for the Zoom link.
The shul is a Welcome Campaign Congregation through HIAS. As part of the partnership, it seeks to find ways of fulfilling the mitzvah of welcoming the stranger by supporting refugees and asylum seekers in pursuit of a better life.
