Essex County woman is honored by NCJW
Myrna Wertheimer of Livingston, a member of the Essex County section of the National Council of Jewish Women, was among four inspiring NCJW leaders from New Jersey, California, Texas, and Louisiana who were honored online on December 15 at a celebration of NCJW leaders who embody the group’s mission — to protect and support the most vulnerable. Ms. Wertheimer received the 2020 Enduring Advocate award for her advocacy efforts pursuing social change.
The National Council of Jewish Women also honored Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and Tina Tchen, president and CEO of TIMES UP Now, with the 2020 Social Action awards.
NCJW members came together online from across the country to light Chanukah candles, celebrate the year’s successes, prepare for the work ahead, and honor the six women. The celebration featured remarks from the honorees and a special performance by the Cantors for Repro choir.
