Emergency blood drive in Teaneck
Young Israel of Teaneck on Perry Lane is hosting an emergency blood drive in memory of Mary Schatz on Thursday, June 15, from 1 to 7 p.m. Her granddaughter, Sara Schatz, organizes the yearly drive in her memory.
Sara Schatz has been doing this since her grandmother died in 2015; her goal is to keep her grandmother’s memory alive. She knew her grandmother always did chesed projects, but learned at her shiva that she had volunteered at many blood drives. Since then, in her memory, every summer around her yahrzeit, on 22 Tammuz, Sara Schatz been running a blood drive at her childhood shul, even though she now lives in Manhattan.
Walk-ins are welcome; make an appointment by going to www.nybc.org/donate or texting (917) 699-9073; include the name of the drive and what time you’d like to come in the text. For questions, call Sara at (201) 708-5249.
