Eilat gets big blue visitor
Call him (or her) Israel.
Or rather, Israel called him. (Or her.)
In any event, a 65-foot blue whale was sighted off Eilat this week.
Blue whales, Earth’s largest mammals, can range around the entire world, but they rarely make it to the Red Sea.
“This is a very exciting observation as whales sometimes travel great distances and occasionally increase their range of migration for various reasons: availability of food, damage to other habitats, climate change and other causes,” Israel’s Nature and Parks Authority explained in a Facebook post.
