Dire need indeed

Dire need indeed

Englewood CFA would like to thank The Jewish Standard for continuing to write about the growing crisis of hunger and homelessness in our neighborhoods (Sept. 23). This is an important editorial for many reasons, including making the connection that many people have simply given up on applying for employment. People are more than just hungry. They are losing hope. And yes, “dire” is the word volunteers and staff use to describe this unacceptable trend. What is particularly startling to all of us at CFA is the number of new clients coming for assistance. Many are individuals and families who were once able to completely support themselves; some were even once donors. “Action” is an imperative for all of us. Please help your neighbors in need today.
